2020 Toyota Fortuner Facelift Design Features Variants Engine Explained
Toyota recently in Thailand. The India-bound SUV comes with a design refresh and more equipment on board. But that's not it. The Fortuner's 2.8-litre engine has also been massaged to develop more power. Here are five things new in the facelifted Fortuner:
Exterior Design:
Major design changes of the are concentrated at the front. It comes with a larger grille and is flanked by redesigned LED headlamps. The aggressively styled front bumpers also complement the brawny nature of the SUV. Other highlights include a new set of alloy wheels, redesigned rear bumper and new LED tail lamps. There's also a new top-spec Legender variant which borrows design cues from Lexus and looks more sportier.
Interior Design:
The interior of the facelifted Fortuner, though similar to its predecessor, gets a few updates. Keen eyes will notice the redesigned instrument cluster and a new touchscreen infotainment which finally features Apple CarPlay (Yippee). Android phone users will still need to rely on Bluetooth, though.
Any New Features Onboard:
Yes, and plenty. Highlights include connected car technology, up to 9-inch touchscreen, ambient lighting, a 360-degree camera, a 9-speaker JBL sound system, wireless phone charger and handsfree boot opening. Other features like cruise control, climate control, drive modes and steering mounted controls will be retained. Safety features include upto 7 airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, and electronic stability control.

Yes, the 2.8-litre diesel engine has been upgraded to develop 204PS and 500Nm of force, a full 27PS and 50Nm (80 more for manual) more than the existing India-spec SUV. It'll also be offered in rear wheel drive and all-wheel drive variants.
Expected Launch And Price:
The facelifted Toyota Fortuner is expected to reach our shores by early 2021. Prices are expected to start from Rs 30 lakh (ex-showroom), making it one of the pricier full size SUVs in India. Currently, prices for the Fortumer start from Rs 28.66 lakh (ex-showroom). The facelifted Fortuner will battle the, Mahindra Alturas G4 and the upcoming MG Gloster.
