The BS6 deadline is just around the corner and carmakers are hard at work updating their models before April 1. Manufacturers like BMW and Maruti Suzuki are also using this opportunity to update the designs of their cars, while Ford and Hyundai are introducing new engines for existing models. Here are the top BS6 cars that are set to be launched before April 1, 2020:

Zw-2020-Hyundai-Creta

Hyundai's 2020 Creta, , is one of the most-awaited SUVs this year. It'll be based on the Kia Seltos and will utilise the same BS6-compliant powertrain options. The 115PS 1.5-litre diesel and petrol engines will go on sale first, while the 1.4-litre turbo-petrol unit will join later. Other highlights include the Sensuous Sportiness design language and comparatively different interior design.

Maruti Suzuki will launch the by the end of February. It gets a cosmetic update, which freshens up its design. The updated SUV also comes with new features such as LED headlamps, tail lamps, and the updated Smartplay Studio infotainment system. But the main update is the new BS6-compliant 1.5-litre K15B petrol engine. Also new to the Vitara Brezza is a 4-speed torque converter automatic.

Ford's burly Endy will soon get the BS6 update in the form of a new 2.0-litre turbo-diesel heart. It develops 170PS of power, 420Nm of torque, and comes paired to a 10-speed automatic transmission Yes, you read that right. ZW-Maruti-Suzuki-S-Cross

Maruti Suzuki's will be launched by the end of March. Its highlight is the tried-and-tested 1.5-litre K15B petrol engine, which will replace the existing 1.3-litre diesel engine. The petrol motor puts out 105PS of power and 138Nm of torque. It's paired to a 12v mild hybrid system for additional torque boost. Transmission options are a 5-speed manual and 4-speed automatic, the latter for the first time in the S-Cross.

Hyundai's Grand i10 Nios is all set to get sportier thanks to a new 1.0-litre T-GDI turbo petrol. The Nios' engine develops 100PS of power and 172Nm of torque, figures similar to the recently launched Aura Turbo. Other highlights include a reworked grille with 'turbo badging', sportier bumpers, and plenty of red accents on the interiors. have already been revealed ahead of its launch.

The and Volkswagen's first new model under its SUVW strategy. It's powered by a BS6-compliant 2.0-litre TSI unit developing 190PS of power and 320Nm of torque. Power is sent to all four wheels via a 7-speed DSG. Other highlights include new LED headlamps, a digital driver's instrument display, and Volkswagen's connected car technology app. The VW Tiguan Allspace is expected to launch by March 2020 and prices could start from Rs 35 lakh (ex-showroom).

Last but not the least, the facelifted 2020 BMW X1 is slated to launch on March 5. It will be offered with 2.0-litre petrol and diesel engines, albeit with BS6 upgrades. The petrol motor is expected to develop 192PS while the diesel motor could put out 190PS. Along with the updated engines, BMW has also used this opportunity to update the design of the X1.
