MG RC-6 Sedan At Auto Expo 2020 Engines Specs Features And Expected Price
rival in India. But its tall stance and coupe roofline makes this a very different vehicle. Here are the top five things you need to know about the MG RC-6:
It only has petrol drivetrains on offer:
In its home market of China, the only engine option is a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol motor which puts out 147PS and 240Nm. You can pair it with a 6-speed manual or an 8-step CVT gearbox. In comparison, the Honda Civic has nearly as much power but 66Nm less torque, while the Octy puts out 30PS more power and 10Nm more torque.
It's a looker:
The RC-6 looks stunning from any angle. The coupe roofline swoops downward to make it look like a sedan in profile. But at the rear, it looks like a coupe-SUV. This is a tall sedan with 198mm of ground clearance, as much as a Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza Its front fascia is occupied by a giant grille and sharp headlamps. With its creases and large window area, the RC-6 hides its size well.
It boasts a plush interior:
The RC-6 takes inspiration from more expensive sedans in its interior aesthetic. It has a large panoramic dual-screen centre console beneath which sit obscured centre air vents. The RC-6 has a longer wheelbase than the Civic and Octavia and is much longer at 4925mm. This frees up a lot of room in the MG. Its tall roof ensures that rear passengers are not left wanting for headroom.
It comes with connected car tech:
You can operate its windows, sunroof, air conditioning, and audio with voice controls. The carmaker's app can be used to lock the doors and start the car. It also tracks the location of the vehicle at all times. Over-the-air updates are automatic, eliminating the need to visit a dealership to update the software.
It has driver assistance systems:
Bosch's Level-2 advanced driver assistance systems are part of this tech package. The RC-6 has adaptive cruise control which can operate at speeds up to 130kmph. Other tech includes adaptive headlamps, traffic jam assist, lane keeping assist, and speed assist.
The RC-6 is a commodious sedan with good ground clearance, decently powerful engine, and self-driving tech. We expect it to be priced from Rs 15 lakh if launched in India. However, MG hasn't expressed the intent to bring it to India. But with its butch looks and desirable features, wouldn't it make for a great addition to MG's India lineup?
