Tata Motors is having a hard time hiding its upcoming models from the radar of the automotive paparazzi. It is working on a slew of new cars for 2020 and this includes facelift. It will come with an Altroz-like fascia and a BS6-compliant petrol engine. The 1.05-litre Revotorq diesel engine won't be upgraded to meet BS6 emission norms and will face the axe soon. The Tiago facelift is expected to debut by the end of 2019 and its rivals include the Hyundai Santro and Maruti Suzuki Wagon R.

Visually, the facelifted Tiago borrows plenty of design elements from the premium hatchback. This is no bad thing as the Altroz is a smart looking car. Changes on the Tiago facelift include a raked honeycomb mesh grille that are flanked by sleek projector headlamps. The front bumper is new and the fog lamps now sit in their own housing rather than on the lower grille as seen in the existing model. Meanwhile, changes to the profile and rear are likely to be a nip and tuck affair with the major one being restyled tail lamps.

Changes on the inside are likely to be limited to a new colour scheme and upholstery design. recently updated the Tiago with a new digital instrument display and that's likely to be retained in the facelifted model. Other features like an 7-inch infotainment system, a Harman sound system, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, automatic climate control, a multi-info display as well as steering-mounted audio controls will be carried over.

Under the hood, the facelifted Tiago is likely to come with the 1.2-litre Revotron petrol engine only. Tata won't update the 1.05-litre Revotorq diesel engine to meet BS6 emission norms due to high costs associated with updating it. The 1.2-litre petrol engine currently develops 85PS of power and 114Nm of torque. It can be had with either a 5-speed manual or AMT.

The Tiago facelift is expected to hit showrooms by the end of 2019. Considering the updates, expect the facelifted model to be priced more than the current one, which starts from Rs 4.4 lakh (ex-showroom). When launched, the facelifted Tiago will renew its rivalry with the and Maruti Suzuki Wagon R.
