2020 BMW 6 Series GT Facelift Spied Testing For The First Time


  • Exterior changes include revised headlights, Audi-esque DRLs, bigger grille and revised exhaust tips.
  • Likely to get updated digital instrument cluster and iDrive infotainment system.
  • Could get updated powertrains and an additional plug-in hybrid variant like the 7 Series facelift.

The 6 Series Gran Turisomo is set for a mid-cycle refresh internationally, though the current model was launched in India at the 2018 auto Expo. And a partially-camouflaged prototype of the midsize luxury 4-door coupe has been spotted for the first time in southern Europe.

The spy shots reveal that the GT gets minor cosmetic changes on the outside. At the front, despite the camo wrap, we do notice changes like a revised headlight design, revised DRLs as well as a larger kidney grille that has been the recent norm for recent BMW models.

At the back, BMW has surprisingly kept the taillight design unchanged. The only change at the rear seem to be the reshaped exhaust tips, as the rear bumper is wrapped in very effective camo. Overall, the facelift is likely to feel like a mild update than a revolutionary different to look at than the current model.

While the interior of the 6 Series GT facelift were not spotted, it is speculated that the coupe will share some bits with the upcoming facelift. Some of these changes may include an updated all-digital instrument cluster and iDrive infotainment system

The current iteration of the 6 Series makes use of a 2.0-litre four-cylinder, 190PS/400Nm diesel; a more powerful 3.0-litre, six-cylinder 265PS/620Nm diesel; and a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder 250PS/400Nm petrol motor. The facelift is expected to get a range of updated powertrains alongside a plug-in hybrid engine from the.The 745Le xDrive plug-in hybrid variant is powered by a 3.0-litre inline six-cylinder petrol motor paired to an electric motor that makes a combined power output of 384PS and 600Nm.

The 2020 BMW 6 Series facelift is expected to make its global debut sometime around 2020 with an India launch soon afterwards. The current iteration of the 6 Series GT is sold in India at a price range between Rs 63.90 lakh to Rs 73.90 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) and is offered in four variants. We expect the 6 Series facelift to come at a premium over its predecessor. The 6 Series GT only has the (Rs 60.39 lakh to Rs 66.20 lakh, ex-showroom Delhi) to contend with in India.
