MG Motor To Reveal SUV Name Tomorrow
- MG announced via Instagram that it will be revealing the name of its SUV tomorrow.
- It will be based on the Baojun 530.
- Will be offered as a 5-seater at launch.
- 7-seater version to follow later.
- Will be powered by 2.0-litre diesel engine.
MG has also confirmed that it will be powered by the 2.0-litre diesel that also powers the Jeep Compass. But a petrol engine hasn't been confirmed yet. MG, though, has hinted at a 1.5 or a 1.8-litre petrol powertrain. The SUV is likely to make its debut in April 2019 and could be launched shortly later. When launched it initially but could get a 7-seater variant at a later stage.
The MG SUV will be fairly larger than the competition and could well be a rebadged version of the Baojun 500. That would put it at 4655mm in length, 1835mm wide and 1760mm high with a 2750mm wheelbase. Size wise, that puts it in close proximity to the. That is stiff competition to say the least.
