While most full-size SUVs in India are powered by diesel engines, the Haval H9 is likely to be a petrol-only offering. Its 2.0-litre turbocharged engine produces 215PS of power and 324Nm of torque. A diesel may be offered in the future at GWM's discretion.
On the outside, the H9 is an imposing figure. It gets an oversized chrome grille in the front and a tall stance. View it in profile and the H9 stands out in its length. Haval has taken a traditional approach to the H9's design. There are some odd styling cues like the oversized tail lamps and the tiny wheels. But the H9 exudes sensibility and durability.
We haven't seen the interior of the new SUV yet.
Even if the H9 looks old, it has a desirable feature list. It gets a digital instrument cluster, dual zone climate control, sunroof, massaging and power-operated seats. The seats are heated and ventilated, too. It also comes with a full suite of safety features such as ABS, EBD, seven airbags, hill descent control, and hill start assist.

Indian car buyers in this segment prefer diesels for their economy. With the 10-year registration rule, scrapping regulation, and BS6 norms, the Indian buyer's mindset could see a shift. The H9 has a solid resume, but we can't wait to get our hands on the wheel.
