Mahindra Y400 Rexton-based SUV Launch On November 19
sold overseas. It is expected to be priced at a slight premium, with prices starting from around Rs 26 lakh.
Mahindra has also confirmed that it will be offering a more premium dealership experience to the Y400 customers. To that effect, Mahindra will have a portion of the current dealerships dedicated to the SUV along with separate staff with modern gadgets. This will also extend to the after-sales services where the Y400 customers will be handled separately.
Inside, this fourth-generation Rexton or 'Y400' feels a lot more premium than before. There is ivory-coloured leather with diamond stitching covering the seats and the dashboard, along with some wooden finish. In terms of features, the SUV will have all the latest bells and whistles like an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, climate control, cruise control, electrically adjustable seats with memory and a lot more. The international models also get a good-looking 7-inch LCD screen in the instrument cluster. However, it remains to be seen if Mahindra offers it on the India-spec model or not.
Outside, the SUV has a commanding road presence, thanks to its large dimensions. The new Mahindra grille is flanked by HID headlamps with DRLs on the top. The tall hood will most likely pack a 2.2-litre diesel engine underneath, which produces 181PS of max power and 420Nm of peak torque. Mated to the engine will be a Mercedes-derived 7-speed E-Tronic transmission which will offer both 4X2 and 4X4 drivetrain configurations. The four-wheel drive variants should come with a locking differential and a low-ratio transfer case as well. The 2.0-litre turbo-diesel engine that is available internationally will most likely not make it to India.
