2021 Lexus LS Facelift Breaks Cover India Launch Likely In 2021

The 2021 facelifted is here, and at first glance you might be wondering what's new. That's because Lexus has kept its gorgeous design intact and focussed on updating bits and new features. But that's not to say the updated LS hasn't received any cosmetic updates at all.
While the overall exterior design might look familiar, minor embellishments refresh its design. The traditional spindle grille has been retained and along with it is a new bumper with aggressive design elements. Even the headlamps and tail lamps are new and look a lot cleaner and simpler than before. There's a new colour scheme as well - Gin-ei Luster - highlighting the character lines and design elements beautifully.
The opulent interior has received minor yet important updates. For starters, there is a new 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system featuring Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Then there's the attention to detail, like the steering-mounted controls which are finished in black for better visibility. And the controls for the heated steering wheel and seats have been relocated to the centre console for better accessibility.
The updated LS also features Lexus TeamMate - Lexus lingo for driver assist features. In simple words the LS is now capable of driving itself, changing lanes, maintaining an appropriate distance from the vehicle ahead of you and even overtaking vehicles on the motorway. Naturally, this feature will require the driver to monitor when behind the wheel. The headlamps also have a feature known as Blade Scan, which is essentially adaptive LED headlamps. Last but not least, it has park assist, easing your work while parking the car.
Any updates to its powertrains? Not really. It continues to utilise the 416PS 3.5-litre twin-turbocharged petrol engine and 354PS 3.5-litre hybrid powertrain setup. Though Lexus states that it has made improvements for a quieter experience and the hybrid powertrain has increased battery assist for better acceleration. That said, the chauffeur driven seth will now appreciate the fact that the updated LS is offered with Adaptive Variable Suspension for better ride quality.
The minor updates to the Lexus LS has indeed made it a better proposition than before. Slated to go on sale in Japan in coming months, we expect this updated sedan to reach here around mid-2021. Expect prices to start from Rs 1.80 crore (ex-showroom), putting it in the ballpark of, Mercedes-Benz S-Class and BMW 7 Series.
