Mercedes-Benz To Launch Its All-Electric EQ Brand In India On January 14

emerged as one of the pioneers of electrification among major carmakers with the introduction of the EQ brand at the 2016 Paris Motor Show, where it debuted the Concept EQ - now the EQC electric SUV. Today, the brand has grown with various new offerings like the EQA, EQS and EQV lined up for the near future. Mercedes-Benz India has now decided to debut the EQ series in the country on January 14. What's more, we might also get to see the EQC in the metal

Currently, the only EV on sale from the EQ brand is the -- an all-electric SUV with a range of 450km. Helping the big SUV in this regard is an 80kWh battery pack that can churn out 408PS and a solid 765Nm of torque right from the get-go. All these help the EQC reach 100kmph in 5.1 seconds with a top speed of up to 180kmph. Also, it can charge from 10 to 80 per cent in just 40 minutes.

In the meantime, the EQC is not the only EQ-branded Merc that's headed our way. Thanks to a video teaser revealing Mercedes' Auto Expo lineup, we also know that is inbound and fast approaching. It will be joined by the 2020 GLE, GLS, GLE 53 Coupe, and the AMG GT 4-door coupe.

Mercedes-Benz bringing its dedicated EV brand is a clear sign of the brand's focus on EVs for the Indian market. As of now, the product lineup for our market is unknown but we expect to hear about it on January 14. With the EQC being the only one on sale, chances are high of it making it to India first. Prices of the EQC start from $67,900 (approx Rs 50 lakh excluding taxes) in the US.
