Skoda Karoq SUV Launch in 2020 To Rival Jeep Compass

If you want an SUV from the German carmakers here in India but don't quite have the budget for the Kodiaq or Tiguan, then the year 2020 is the one to look out for. After confirming the launch of the will be given at the Auto Expo, the Karoq will most likely be launched towards the latter part of the year. In Skoda's lineup, the Karoq sits in between the Kamiq and the Kodiaq. With the Karoq expected to be a CKD offering, expect it to be priced close to Rs 25 lakh.

While the Karoq is also based on the MQB platform, it is based on a different iteration than the A0 which will be manufactured here in India for the Kamiq. In terms of powertrain, the Karoq could feature a 2.0-litre TDI from the Octavia paired to a DSG gearbox and a 2WD drivetrain.

When it comes to looks, the Karoq looks like a scaled-down with an almost identical front and side profile. The elegant styling is also in resemblance to the Kodiaq and will appeal to the audience looking for a similar SUV at a lower price point. In terms of size, the Karoq is 4382mm long, 1841mm wide and 1603mm tall, which puts it between the Jeep Compass and the Harrier. Inside, the Karoq will have seating for five and will come loaded with features and quality materials as we have come to expect from Skoda. Highlights include a 12.3-inch TFT instrument cluster, ambient lighting, a panoramic sunroof and all-LED headlamps.

Once launched, the Karoq will rival the likes of the, Hyundai Tucson and the Honda CR-V despite the latter being considerably more expensive. With new age vehicles, and that too SUVs planned for India, Skoda could bounce back and become a key carmaker in the premium car segment.
