Mahindra S201 SUV To Be Named XUV300

- Mahindra expected to launch its new sub-4 metre SUV by April
- Expected to be priced in the range of Rs 8 lakh - Rs 12 lakh
- Will rival the Ford EcoSport, Tata Nexon and Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza
Finally After multiple teases throughout the week, rival. It packs features like a dual-zone climate control, a touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and an all essential electric sunroof.

Speaking of the launch date, Mahindra says the XUV300 will hit showrooms by April. However, we believe it could arrive a lot sooner, considering the Tata Harrier and Nissan Kicks are set to be launched by mid-January. Not to mention, Hyundai's sub-4m SUV codenamed the QXi is also set to launch by April 2019.

The Mahindra XUV 300 will be based on the Ssangyong Tivoli. However, it'll come with redesigned front and rear profiles to fit under four metres. It's daytime running LEDs seem to be inspired from the Renault Megane, as opposed to the Tivoli.

While the engine specs are yet to be announced, we expect it to be powered by a choice of 1.5-litre diesel and 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol motor. Both engines are expected to be paired with a 6-speed transmission for now. The diesel engine will likely be carried over from the Marazzo. We expect Mahindra to price the XUV300 between Rs 8 lakh to Rs 12 lakh mark (ex-showroom). At this price point, it'll go against the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, and the upcoming Hyundai sub-4m SUV.
