The by Mahindra which was discontinued back in 2016 after four years of slow sales. How does the Alturas G4 compare to its predecessor on paper? Let's find out.

The Alturas G4 has grown considerably in terms of overall dimensions. It is now 95mm longer, 60mm wider and has 30mm longer wheelbase than the Rexton. Overall height is lower, but this could be down to the fact that the Alturas does not get tall roof rails.
The increased proportions should make the Alturas much more spacious as a 7-seater SUV than the Rexton was. The Alturas has 2.2-tonne kerb weight, but that should not bother it as it has got a powerful engine than before.

The Mahindra Alturas G4's engine is over 500cc smaller than the Rexton, but develops more power, more torque and is potentially more efficient too. At launch and for some foreseeable future, the Alturas G4 will be only offered with a 7-speed Mercedes-Benz sourced torque-converter automatic transmission, unlike the Rexton which was also offered with a 5-speed manual transmission.

They feature list of the Alturas G4 has not been revealed, but we have a fair idea of what it could be offered with.
LED everything The Mahindra Alturas G4 gets LED fog lamps, cornering lamps, LED taillamps apart from LED DRLs. HID projectors are also an upgrade as compared to the standard bulb projectors on the Rexton.
The Alturas G4 will get a larger 8.0-inch touchscreen, the Rexton was fitted with a 6.1-inch unit. The screen is not only bigger but the multimedia software supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone connectivity too.
The instrument cluster features a 7-inch all-digital 'supervision' cluster with multiple displays.

The SsangYong Rexton W was very well loaded in terms of safety features and the Alturas G4 improves upon it. The Alturas features 9 airbags, including shoulder airbags for the 2nd-row passengers and a knee airbag for the driver.
The Mahindra Alturas will be launched on 24 November 2018 and is expected to be priced at a premium with prices starting above the Rs 30 lakh mark. The Alturas' competition will include the, of which it will directly compete against the Kodiaq and CR-V in terms of price.
