Chintamani (చింతామణి) 1933 film
Chintamani was based on the legendary story of a Sanskrit poet named Bilwamangal. He was devotee of Lord Krishna a resident of Varanasi. He gets infatuated towards a courtesan called Chintamani, a woman of ill-fame and deserts his wife. However, Chintamani is an ardent devotee of Lord Krishna and spends most of her time singing bhajans in praise of Lord Krishna.
His attraction towards Chintamani eventually draws Bilwamangal closer towards Lord Krishna and transforms his life forever. Bilwangal, himself, becomes a devotee of Lord Krishna and pens a monumental Sanskrit work, Sri Krishna Karnamritam.
The prominent stage actors of that age Ramatilakam, Pulipati Venkateshwarulu, Parvatibai, Y. Bhadracharyulu, P. Munuswamy and so on acted in it. The film’s shooting and postproduction was done in Calcutta. Radhakishan Chamriya offered his assistance to the film. Though it was a huge success on stage, Chintamani as a film was a failure
