
As tensions intensify between Iran and Japan's key ally the United States, Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe has reportedly proposed serving as a go-between and is said to be weighing up a state visit to Iran. According to the Mainichi Shimbun report, Abe's planned meeting with influential Khamenei will be the first such talks between a Japanese premier and Tehran's supreme leader.
