Tata Nexon Electric Vehicle EV To Unveil On December 16 Likely To Launch At Auto Expo 2020

Tata Motors is all set to take the wraps off the Nexon Electric Vehicle (EV) on December 16, 2019. It will be the first model to as the manufacturer has been extensively testing the facelifted Nexon across India. It could be the most affordable electric SUV in India when launched.

The talking point in the Nexon EV is its new Ziptron powertrain. It utilises a permanent magnet AC motor that draws juice from an IP67 rated dust and waterproof battery pack. Tata Motors has also claimed that the new powertrain has been road tested for more than one million km. While technical specifications of this powertrain are yet to be revealed, we expect it to offer a real-world range of 300km.

Tata Motors is hard at work to ensure ahead of the launch. At present, it has 85 chargers across 13 cities. The carmaker is looking to expand to 300 chargers across five metro cities: Mumbai, Delhi, Pune, Bengaluru and Hyderabad.

Tata Motors is also working on the Nexon facelift, which comes with a Harrier-esque grille and sleek projector headlamps. The fog lamp housings now come with silver inserts rather than the white/grey colour in the existing model. Inside, the facelifted Nexon will borrow its instrument cluster from the Harrier while the. It is also expected to come with additional kit such as cruise control, a colour multi-info display as well as automatic headlamps. The facelifted car is likely to get the updated BS6-compliant version of its 1.2-litre petrol and 1.5-litre diesel engines.

The Nexon EV is expected to launch at the Auto Expo 2020 along with the facelifted ICE model. Prices for the Nexon EV are expected to be in the range of Rs 15 lakh to Rs 17 lakh (ex-showroom). Its primary rival is the. So stay tuned for further updates.
